Ballantrae and its surrounding district of Carrick lies in the
south west part of the southern uplands of Scotland. It is a beautiful
unspoilt region of hills and heather, with a magnificent coastline
looking across to Ailsa Craig, Arran, the Mull of Kintyre and Northern
Ireland.
The village of Ballantrae is situated at the mouth of the River
Stinchar and was once an important fishing village. Today there is a
shallow picturesque harbour for small fishing boats catching crabs and
lobsters. There is a shop, post office, pub, resident doctor and public
tennis court.
Ballantrae is an attractive and friendly village and you can be
sure of a warm welcome. |
